DIY: Sequined Heart Headband

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and hearts are appearing everywhere! I was wearing my sequined red felt heart headband from Old Navy the other day, and after examining it to see how it was made, I decided to DIY another one, a different color, with smaller hearts. Then I kicked myself for buying the store bought one, when I could have just made it myself.

Step 1: Draw two hearts on a piece of felt and cut them out.

Steps 2, 3, & 4: Sew or glue sequins onto one of the felt hearts. I decided to hand-sew the sequins, but you could just glue them on. Hot glue the sequined heart onto a plain headband. Take the other felt heart (without sequins) and hot glue it to the underside of the headband and make sure it is directly glued underneath the sequined heart.

Repeat steps 1-4 if you want to add another heart onto the headband.

The red one on the left is the Old Navy version. It is very simple and cheap to make (felt and sequins are less than a dollar), and you could customize your hearts, making them any size, any color – sequins, rhinestones, glitter, plain felt, whatever floats your boat. You don’t need a holiday to wear it either. I wear hearts all year round. Happy Valentine’s Day!
