Red lips used to intimidate me for the longest time. I remember being six, getting ready for a dance recital backstage – you know where they force kids to wear gaudy makeup and sequins – and this lady took a grubby old tube of red lipstick and started to aggressively apply it to every little ballerina in my class, one after the other (eww gross!). She applied it with so much sloppy force that everyone had red teeth. Now that I am an adult, I have finally repressed that memory and embraced the red lip look (hopefully making it classy).
